We have been working with the Get Doncaster Moving team at Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council to explore physical activity levels within Doncaster. Phase 1 of the project consisted of a survey of households in Doncaster, to explore current physical activity levels and how the COM-B factors influenced physical activity. Over 1,100 households completed the survey which reported high levels of inactivity in communities, with only 30% of participants meeting the physical activity guidelines of 150 minutes a week.
Phase 2 of the project involved interviews being conducted with community members to explore the barriers and facilitators to being active. The interviews were conducted by local community members, which we trained in interview techniques.
Below are the reports from Phases 1 and 2, which outline what was done as well as the findings and next steps for the project. Phase 3 is currently underway and should be available by October 2019.
